Frost Fatales 2022 raised thousands for the Malala Fund.
Feelgood Friday: All Women Speedrunning Event Raises Over $130,000
Games Done Quick has once again showcased a superhuman slew of gamers as they tore through games in a fraction of the time it's supposed to take. Only this time, it was all women.
Frost Fatales is the all-women speedrunning event held by Games Done Quick, the organisation that broke records aplenty with their last event: Awesome Games Done Quick. This year, AGDQ not only played host to such feats as a two-hour blindfolded speedrun of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice , but the $3.4m raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation was its highest total for a single GDQ event.
Frost Fatales 2022 was the next event on the lineup and offered up a double-whammy of positivity by highlighting the speedrunning talents of an underrepresented demographic whilst raising money for another particularly worthy cause.
Over the course of last weekend, Frost Fatales 2022 raised $132,350 for the Malala Fund. The Malala Fund was founded in 2013 by Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt in 2012 for her activisim and advocation for girls' education. The Malala Fund amplifies this work, with its stated goal being to provide 12 years of free, safe and quality education for every girl.
The funds were raised last weekend thanks to such speedrunning feats as a 3:46:25 run of Spyro: Year of the Dragon , a 1:14:03 run of Pokémon Pearl and a 1:34:55 run of Mass Effect. Performances that can be witnessed with one's own eyes by checking out the Frost Fatales 2022 YouTube highlights playlist.
Flame Fatales is the next all-women speedrunning event set to take place in August of this year and will join Summer Games Done Quick to provide another healthy dose of speedrunning spectacles all in the name of a good cause this summer.
