The Calpheon Ball was marked by the reveal of a new Korean-inspired class and region.
The Black Desert Calpheon Ball Unveils First-Ever Twin Classes
Another Calpheon Ball just dropped, and this was the first BDO USA Ball ever. Which was a moment made all the more significant by the reveal of the Korean MMO's first-ever twin classes, Maegu and Woosa.
The class reveal was broadcast via livestream at the same time as the BDO USA event which saw more than 200 people gather at Ovation Square in Long Beach, California. Maegu and Woosa are twin sisters that will feature in separate platforms, with elder twin Maegu appearing in Black Desert Mobile today, and younger twin Woosa landing on Black Desert Online (PC) and Black Desert (console) tomorrow, Wednesday December 14th.
Woosa was the star of the show during the US-based Calpheon Ball, as Pearl Abyss showcased her traditional Korean-inspired moveset and combat style. Woosa wields the power of Taoist sorcery, unleashing elemental attacks with her fan via three key moves:
Stormfall - a heavy damage-dealing AOE attack
Cloudrise - a targeted attack that builds power with successive uses
Wingbeat - which increases the size of Woosa's fan, allowing it to deal significant damage
Alongside the twin class reveal came a new region, Land of the Morning Light, a land based on the Joseon Dynasty, Korea's last dynastic kingdom, and steeped in folkloric inspirations from around the world. New NPCs, monsters, areas and lore await, while the established setting of Haso, which was once the sole eastern civilization in BDO, has become more accessible than ever.
Maegu, meanwhile, had her time in the spotlight over in the Korea-based Calpheon Ball on Saturday. The event focussed on Black Desert Mobile, with a showcase of swift-moving sorceress Maegu who is assisted by a magical fox in battle, as well as the new turn-based Dawnrise Vanguards content and new desert region, Shahzad.
A Calpheon Ball developer livestream also featured a dev talk with executive producer Jaehee Kim, and unveiled new systems and improvements including the reappearance of the popular PvP Arena of Solare on December 28th. All BDO players were also bestowed with J's Hammer of Loyalty, Advice of Valks (+150), Cron Stone x 2023, plus a dozen more valuable items at the end of the live stream, which can be redeemed now.
