If you're wondering why there's so much fuss, you haven't seen the blunderbuss.
Check Out the New World Roadmap for 2022
New World is bringing some significant changes in its March update. And if the newly introduced blunderbuss is anything to go by, it's packing a real punch. In a recently released deep-dive video the devs got together to discuss what's in store including the Heart of Madness update, bug fixes, changes to weapons and combat and upcoming events. Plus, a New World roadmap teases some of the juicy content in store over the year. And would you believe it, there be more pirates in 2022.
In their discussion on the Heart of Madness update, team members Rob Chestney, Mike Willette and Charles Bradbury detail what will become the final chapter in the Isabella story arc. As players enter the final showdown, they can expect to see some intense and surreal content unlike anything they have encountered before. And for their troubles, a cinematic foreshadowing upcoming content awaits at its conclusion.
But easily one of the most exciting new additions is the arrival of the blunderbuss. This famed weapon of yesteryear is the shotgun to the musket's sniper. The blunderbuss is a strength-based ranged weapon to be wielded in close quarters.
Though creative licence has allowed the devs to incorporate some not-so-authentic yet wholly welcome modifications incorporating grenades and mortars. It sounds like a chaotic addition that opens up some interesting new builds - and we're here for it.
Shortly after the update rolls out, players can enjoy double weapon mastery XP for the blunderbuss to kick off its legacy as part of the 'weapons pantheon'. Around the same time, players who may have wandered off (because Lost Ark) are being enticed back in with a double XP weekend. The precise date, however, is yet to be determined.
Finally, the New World roadmap for 2022 has been unveiled. Enhancements to PvP have also been incorporated into the spring update. Which is all well and good, but this Summer we can anticipate an expedition entitled 'Barnacles and Black Powder'. And yep, it looks like more pirates on the horizon too.
Be sure to check out the dev update video for all the details on the latest New World update.
