As we await the next WoW expansion, datamining reveals some convincing Dragonflight info.
Datamining Reveals More Details of Next WoW Expansion Dragonflight
Hold on to your helmets, because there's some big WoW news swooping in via wowhead. And, finally, it all but confirms that the rumors were actually true about the next WoW expansion. Unless it's some cruel, belated April Fools joke. But given that Blizzard is still trying to re-enter everybody's good books, we're probably safe.
Over the weekend, Wowhead's trusty data miners picked up their digital pickaxes and got to digging on the official World of Warcraft website. Only this time they didn't have to work very hard before unearthing a pretty sizeable gem: the name ' Dragonflight' nestled not-so-discreetly in the website's public source code.
There are multiple reasons to believe that this is the name of the next WoW expansion. For one, the expansion announcement is the next big thing on the WoW calendar, coming up on 19th April. So it's likely that Blizzard are setting things up for that reveal. Which is further evidenced by the inclusion of a URL that reads dragonflight.blizzard.com. Looks pretty set in stone, so far.
Other strings of code show 'prepurch[ases]' for Dragonflight Base, Heroic and Epic. Implying that prospective players can net themselves some pre-purchase goodies which may include some items that wowhead also datamined a little while ago. What is extra interesting is that these are unhidden comments, almost as if Blizzard put them there to be found. Well it's got us talking, so if it was intentional, it worked.
Further evidence emerged in the form of 'dragonflight' web certifications that were registered last week, including the URL mentioned above.
It follows speculation after WoW released their Dragon Pack mount & pet bundle that the new expansion would take place in the uncharted Dragon Isles. Another exciting hypothesis suggested that a new dragon-like race would also be introduced.
Needless to say, the community is abuzz with speculation and excitement. We can only hope that we don't have to wait two whole weeks before new information emerges.
