A fascinating PvP dynamic ties into character's alignment and race in the upcoming MMORPG.
Fractured Online PvP Explained
While many PvP MMOs harbour their fair share of aggro players forever on the hunt for their next scuffle or flat-out mugging, few titles label these rogues as 'evil'. Though their victims might. Upcoming isometric MMORPG Fractured Online, however, embraces a D&D-esque alignment system as part of its core gameplay mechanics, allowing for moustache-twizzling evildoers to wear their villainous nature like a badge of honour.
Dynamight recently elaborated on this system in a deep-dive on Fractured Online PvP mechanics. Alignment sits at the heart of these, with a player's decision to be 'good', 'neutral' or 'evil' affecting just how much - if any - PvP they can expect to face.
Good players, for instance, will be unable to perform any hostile actions, including attacks or looting, against other Good or Neutral players. Evil players, however, are fair game, and will even net positive Karma points when felled in righteous battle.
Meanwhile, Neutral players are afforded more moral wiggle-room. They can attack both Evil and Neutral players without losing Karma, and can move freely across the moral spectrum as they see fit. Though turning evil is a one-way ticket.
Those who decide to embrace the darkness and nurture an 'Evil' alignment are in for the most hardcore MMORPG experience available in Fractured Online. Stealing, murdering and looting are par for the course of any Evil player. Fractured Online PvP is constantly switched on for these vagabonds, with those of the same ilk (or those looking to score moral brownie points) can go to town and even try to land evil players in jail. Which will then require serving time or paying bail.
The significance of choosing one's race is also illustrated by each of the three available races' predisposition to each alignment. The Wildfolk are restricted to the Good alignment and are born with positive karma. Whilst the Demon race are, naturally, born Evil. Humans, however, are the Neutral option - which is where competitive players might feel most at home.
The Fractured Online PvP mechanics are set to provide an interesting dynamic as they relate to the Alignment system. For more information check out Dynamight's feature on competitive gameplay. And be sure to catch our recent interview with the Dynamight CEO for a peek behind the curtain.
