With the Gloria Victis release just weeks away, it’s finally time to get medieval.
We Finally Have a Gloria Victis Release Date
With so many games languishing in early access limbo these days, it's great to witness the birth of a full-release. Indie studio Black Eye Games are the latest to make that jump, as a Gloria Victis release date has just been announced.
Gloria Victis is the low fantasy, medieval MMO that has no doubt got LARPers the world over hot under the gorget. It markets itself as the lovechild of Mount & Blade and Planetside 2, with the freedom to live your best medieval life as a knight, archer, berserker, healer, blacksmith and more.
It has been in early access for years now, with a rocky start that saw the small dev team pick up extra jobs just to fund their investor-less passion project. This culminated in an undeniably impressive-looking game. Gloria Victis boasts a large open world, non-target melee combat, large-scale PvP sieges and a player-driven economy, to name just a few key features.
Now, Black Eye Games has proudly announced the Gloria Victis release date to be Tuesday, February 7th. The final release comes after nearly 350 weekly updates, and three times that in smaller hotfixes and server-side patches over the course of nearly six years.
Because Gloria Victis has spent so long in early access, Black Eye Games has promised not to wipe current servers, turning them into Legacy servers in which early access participants can maintain their years of progress.
New Beginning servers, meanwhile, will appear upon the Gloria Victis release, providing fresh starts to new and returning players. These will provide a blank slate, and will not play host to existing characters. These servers may merge in the future, however, depending on population needs.
Black Eye Games call this "the most important moment in the history of our project" which might be putting it mildly. Either way, if the idea of lording it up in a chaotic medieval world polishes your platemail, be sure to check it out on Steam in the coming weeks.
