Getting one's cold, dead hands on V Rising leather isn't immediately obvious.
Endless Sagas: How to Get V Rising Leather
Despite being in early access, at this point thousands of gamers have already sunk their teeth into vampire survival MMO V Rising. And everyone is getting a taste for it. But as the erstwhile Indie Spotlight star continues to turn more and more gamers, there's one thing that can be said for certain: it doesn't hold your hand.
Such is the case with crafting. In V Rising leather is a material that players will need to complete an early quest and craft some high-tier armor. The problem is, we're not told how to make it.
Industrious players and proficient crafters in other games could probably put two and two together and recognize that animal skins can be crafted into leather with a tannery. And they would be correct. But there are some extra hurdles to leap over before getting your tan on.
V Rising Leather: How to Unlock the Tannery
The Tannery is unlocked by defeating the early boss, Keely the Frost Archer. Keely isn't too much of a threat (though the surrounding bandits might be), and can be easily dispatched with a gear level of 20 or higher. Defeating her is mostly a matter of running down the clock and avoiding her big attacks. Note: players will need to track her after building the Blood Altar, which is covered in the tutorial.
Next, players can build the tannery with a combo of 8 planks and 160 hides. Which is quite a lot of hides to get hold of. Luckily, however, the early game plays host to the Wolf Den, to the south of Farbane Woods, which is probably the best place to farm these hides.
Once players have built their tannery in V Rising leather comes pretty easy. Which is great news for those that want to craft some high-grade armor such as the Nightstalker or Dawnthorn armor sets.
V Rising is currently in early access but is already making waves. Those that want to see what all the fuss is about can do so via Steam.
