Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis is officiating her daughter's cosplay wedding.
WoW Wednesday: Jamie Lee Curtis' Latest Role is Jaina Proudmoor
Hollywood is crossing the gaming threshold once again. This time from past master Jamie Lee Curtis, who's love affair with World of Warcraft isn't new. In fact, this is at least the third time that she will be cosplaying as a WoW character. Though this time it's for the sweetest reason.
Scream-queen Curtis recently sat down with Jimmy Kimmell and revealed that she will be officiating the wedding of her daughter, Ruby Guest, in her own backyard. Only this wedding is to be a cosplay wedding - and judging by Curtis' outfit, we'd say Ruby is a WoW fan.
"It is a cosplay wedding. That means you wear a costume. You dress up as something," Curtis informed Kimmell, who was apparently too cool to know about the ubiquitous practice and suggested that people would dress up as raccoons. The truth is that Curtis is set to marry her daughter and her partner as sorceress supreme Jaina Proudmoore. Pretty badass, if you ask us.
Curtis went on to explain, "Ruby and Cynthia picked my costume, which…her name is Jaina Proudmoor. It's from…anybody here know what that is? It's a game, I don't know, it's a game. She's an admiral."
Why Curtis is playing coy is anybody's guess. This isn't her first rodeo cosplaying as a WoW character. In fact, one time she even infiltrated Blizzcon itself disguised as a Forsaken - stating "What a wonderful World of Warcraft this is".
Not to mention the time she went to the Warcraft movie premier dressed as an Orc Shaman despite not even being a part of the movie. Although the presence of her daughter (who came out as trans in 2020) suggests that she's simply being an even cooler mom than she is already by supporting her daughter's interests in the most epic way.
There's a chance that her supposed naïveté was Curtis just testing the waters to see if Kimmel's crowd comprised any gaming nerds. And upon receiving a tepid response to her revelation decided to feign ignorance. We don't know, Hollywood is weird. But we fully advocate for Curtis and her family's nerdiness. And Ruby's awesome decision to get married by Jaina Proudmoor.
