The decades-old Mahjarrat quest series continues with a classic master-level whodunnit.
Mahjarrat, a 22-Year-Old RuneScape Questline, Continues in OSRS
Old School RuneScape is picking up where it left off with a quest line that began 22 years ago. Which is truly a testament to Jagex and their legendary exercise in nostalgia. But this old dog is a dab hand at new tricks, with new bosses, loot and hidden truths lying in wait for those who tackle the latest Mahjarrat quest series installment: Secrets of the North.
The Mahjarrat Mysteries quest series has become a lifelong journey for many RuneScape vets, taking them through uncharted territory since 2001. Throughout the years, the titular shape-shifting Mahjarrat have been embroiled in numerous capers. And this time players will find themselves working alongside them to figure out the culprits behind a murder.
Secrets of the North will see the players themselves incriminated in the murder, along with the Hazeel cult and the Khazard forces. Needless to say, players will be keen to clear their name but they'll require the assistance of two Mahjarrat to uncover the real killer and their motives. The quest is triggered by heading to the Carnillean household north of the Clock Tower in the south-west corner of East Ardougne.
Rewards will include upgrades to the Ancient Potion, Ancient Staff, and a brand new Venator Bow. The quest will also be Master level, with a repeatable solo-only boss encounter to get stuck into.
In addition to being the latest Mahjarrat installment, Secrets of the North also marks the start of a journey towards the sequel to another venerable quest series: Desert Treasure. Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire is set to release later in 2023, with promises of four brand new areas to explore.
Each new area will feature a new boss, including the formidable Vardovis, Duke Sucellus, the Leviathan, and the Whisperer. Each awaits the players' challenge (with rewards aplenty, we imagine) in the Kharidian Desert once the new expansion lands.
