The charity gaming campaign Wish 200 Week aims to raise £400,000 to fulfil 200 gaming-related wishes.
Feelgood Friday: Help the Make-a-Wish Foundation Double-Down on Charity Gaming Wishes
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is in the midst of a charity gaming campaign enlisting gamers the world over to help fulfil the gaming wishes of 63,000 critically ill children across the UK. And with just a couple of days to go, they have nearly smashed their target.
For those that don’t know, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps to fulfil the wishes - however big - of critically ill children between the ages of 2½ and 18. Whether it’s meeting their favorite superhero or visiting Disneyworld, nothing is off limits for making these children's dreams come true.
It might come as no surprise to our readers, however, that the UK-based branch of the foundation has seen gaming-related wishes skyrocket in recent years, up 400% during that time. Needless to say, the ability to escape into magical worlds where the player has complete control and anything can happen can be a beautiful escape for children with life-threatening conditions.
The stark uptick culminated in Make-A-Wish Foundation UK creating the Wish 100 Week fundraising drive in July 2021. This charity gaming campaign saw gamers try to reach a £200,000 goal through the power of gaming and streaming. It was a roaring success, with the efforts of influencers helping to hit £300,000, and fulfilled the wishes of 100 children who wished to receive next-gen consoles and VR headsets, among other bits of gaming tech.
Thanks to its success, Make-A-Wish UK has doubled its efforts this July with Wish 200 Week - a fundraiser with a goal to hit £400,000 and fulfill the wishes of 200 children. According to the tracker, they are just £10,000 away from reaching that goal. Visit the official Make a Wish website to find out how you can contribute to that final stretch and grant the gaming wishes of 200 children in need.
