WoW Wednesday: All About the New Warcraft Mobile Game Arclight Rumble
While we were distracted thinking about the latest Dragonflight leaks, we barely remembered the next big Blizzard announcement in the pipeline: the new Warcraft mobile game. But announce it they did. And thankfully for everyone involved - it doesn't seem to have landed with the same almighty crash as Diablo Immortal.
The new Warcraft mobile game is called Warcraft Arclight Rumble , and may disappoint the contingent of fans hoping for a remake of the original titles by taking Warcraft in a brand new direction. Though admittedly with some familiar oldschool elements. And a heavy inspiration from another, highly successful mobile game. Though that's certainly just a coincidence.
Arclight Rumble is an action strategy game - or "Tower Offence" - that will see players command legions of familiar Warcraft faces in a rich PvE campaign, or against one another in PvP. It will also feature Conquests, Dungeons, Raids and Co-Op modes. Gather resources to deploy the troops, and level them up through glorious miniature battle.
The charismatic cast of Warcraft make their appearance in Arclight as cute little minis hellbent on the destruction of their rival factions, of which there are five. These comprise the typical Horde & Alliance, alongside the Beast, Undead and Blackrock factions. Each of these will bring their own set of skills and famous leaders with their own special abilities designed to change the tide of battle, including Jaina Proudmoore and Grommash Hellscream.
But let's address the elephant in the room. Arclight Rumble is a mobile game, meaning there will be some form of monetization that Blizzard hasn't been particularly forthcoming about just yet. But with over 65 minis to collect, we're going to assume that they might have a large part to play as in-game money-spinners.
For now, however, interested parties can register their interest ahead of its release, with a chance to be included in any future Beta tests.
