Introducing the new Warframe expansion, The Duviri Paradox, and the new action fantasy MMO Soulframe.
New Warframe Expansion & Brand New MMO Unveiled at TennoCon 22
It was a big weekend for Canadian developer Digital Extremes and their fans. The Warframe developer hosted its seventh annual TennoCon and treated everyone to a barrage of good news, including a brand new game that looks kind of like Warframe…but with swords.
The good news deluge began with the announcement of a new Warframe expansion pack. The Divuri Paradox will deliver a new chapter to the Cinematic Questline in which players are tasked with seizing control of the mind-bending open-world of Divuri from the clutches of its tyrannical ruler, Dominus Thrax.
"'The Duviri Paradox' is a welcomed departure for us. It's completely different from anything we've ever designed in Warframe from gameplay style to color palette and underlying themes, it's just so uniquely its own and I think players will really enjoy the world we've built using layers of color as a narrative technique," said Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford. The Divuri Paradox is set to release this winter.
But the new Warframe expansion wasn't the only departure from the norm. As, in an apparent move to live up to its name, Digital Extremes later unveiled a brand new game that swaps sci-fi for fantasy, entitled Soulframe.
A cinematic teaser heralded the new game, showcasing a painfully beautiful concept that sees humanity and nature colliding in an almost Ghibli-esque fashion. Only with a tad more sword-based violence.
Little else was revealed during the teaser, but interested parties can follow along with developments by registering on the official website as the developer strives to be transparent and collaborative throughout the development process. Prospective players will even get a chance to reserve their in-game name by declaring their Envoy.
Other big reveals during the showcase came in the form of a new update, Veilbreaker, and the 50th playable Warframe, Syntax. This new warrior has been inspired by ancient Greek champions and marks a historic milestone for the franchise. More information on Syntax can be found during the next Warframe Devstream.
