The Summer Medleyfaire brings music to New World as a new trade skill complete with unique buffs.
New World Musical Instruments Are Actually Pretty Rad
Nothing says summer like live music in a field. And New World has decided to bring the summery vibes with its latest update - the Summer Medleyfaire. Time to polish up on your mandolin skills.
New World musical instruments are beckoning a new musical age in Aeternum. Instruments are a new trade skill that allows players to show off to their intrepid peers. Five instruments and 31 songs are now available for solo artists or bands of up to five Adventurers. Instruments include the guitar, mandolin, upright bass, drums, and Azoth flute.
Adventurers can salvage pages containing the available songs throughout Aeternum, with a special set of pages available for those who complete the Summer Medleyfaire quests along with a set of starter instruments. Craftier Adventurers can also make their own New World musical instruments through the Furnishing skill.
Players must press the F5 key to start getting down, with musical performances awarding trade skill XP and various buffs. Generous spectators who throw in a tip will also receive a buff for supporting Aeuternum's budding artists.
The buffs that unlock as the trade skill XP increases include the following:
Decidedly Dexterous: Gathering speed increases by 75% for 30-90min.
Territorial Triumph: Territory standing bonus increases by 10%-30% for 30-90min.
All Together Now: Group character XP sharing bonus increases by 4%-15% for 30-90min.
Song in your Step: Reduces player encumbrance by 200-1,000 for 30-90min.
Fortune's Favour: Gathering yield increases by 3%-10% for 30-90min.
Luck's Labour: Gathering luck increases by 2% - 5% for 30-90min.
The update also brings the sinister Admiral Blackpowder and his crew. Quest givers in the Cutless Keys settlement will be doling out loot and renown for taking down the new evil found in the Barnacles & Black Powder Expedition.
With New World once faltering under the weight of its tall promises, it's somewhat encouraging to see a cavalcade of new features and rebalances being introduced to the game. And if they can go some way to rectifying the myriad issues, perhaps there's hope for New World yet.
