All hail Gnome Child and the SMITE RuneScape crossover that’s bringing him back to us!
The SMITE RuneScape Crossover Features Our Favourite NPC (& Capes Galore)
Another crossover we didn't know we needed has entered the scene. This time, the MMO legend that is RuneScape is joining the ranks of the legends-based MOBA in a SMITE RuneScape mashup that heralds new skins, Skill Capes and other RuneScape themes. And yes, it looks like the Gnome Child is making an appearance - one of the illustrious few who made it into our NPC Hall of Fame. We're sold.
The SMITE RuneScape/Old School RuneScape crossover event will introduce a total of five new SMITE skins.
The SMITE RuneScape/Old School RuneScape crossover event will introduce a total of five new SMITE skins. These include Blessed Dragonhide Neith, Wise Old Man Merlin, King Black Dragon Cerberus, Rune Armor Bellona, and the prodigal Gnome Child Vamana. All skins are available to purchase, with a purchase of two or more granting a Cape, and a purchase of all five granting a RuneScape Cosmetic bundle.
As for the Capes, these cosmetic additions to SMITE can only be equipped on RuneScape skins and can be acquired in myriad ways, such as walking 15 million steps to grab the Master Agility Cape. Capes can also be acquired through questing in RuneScape and Old School RuneScape by checking out the achievements or Capes tab in-game. There are a total of 69 capes to collect in total. Nice.
All this comes as part of a wider update to SMITE that introduces a slew of other features. The Premium Tokyo Battle Pass, for instance, will be doled out for free to anybody who hasn't played SMITE in 2022. This Battle Pass will bestow a smorgasbord of skins including Rogue Cyborg Izanami, Tokyo Knight Ares, Mecha Empress Hera, and Spectral Oni Cliodhna, for absolutely free.
Season 9 of the SMITE Pro League is also reaching its zenith as the SMITE World Championship looms. In just two weeks from December 1st-4th, four teams will qualify in some playoffs, the full schedule for which can be found here.
The SWC Digital Loot Pack is also available to purchase and includes Lancelot's first skin, Dragon Lord Lancelot, as well as the Atlantis Leviathans Gilgamesh, a skin that was co-designed by last year's SWC winners.
Finally, an extra treat for those who participate in the Odyssey: Soaring Isles comes in the form of Magoosa, as Medusa trades her hisses for honks in the Battlegrounds. All in all, we'd say this is a great day for new SMITE skins.
