Nintendo announced a film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda at the presentation of its latest financial results.
The Legend of Zelda to be made into a movie
Following the success of the film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo is planning its next film project. The Japanese company announced that it is working on a film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda when it published its financial figures for the first half of the current financial year. In contrast to the film with Super Mario, however, this is a live-action film with real actors.
The film is being produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad. In recent years, Arad has mainly produced comic book adaptations such as Iron Man, Venom and Spider-Man, but he also has experience with video games. He is also responsible for Uncharted from 2022. Wes Ball is the director. He made a name for himself with "The Maze Runner" series. The film is being financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Nintendo bearing more than 50 percent of the costs.
Further details about the project are not yet known. However, Nintendo is promising something similar to the Super Mario Bros. movie. They want to put a smile on people's faces again.
