The WoW Subathon is in celebration WowGrandma78's 80th birthday.
Feelgood Friday: The Streaming Senior’s WoW Subathon
Move over Asmongold, there's a new WoW streaming favourite. And this one is celebrating their 80th birthday with a no-limit WoW subathon. All whilst winning the hearts and minds of Twitch viewers the world over.
WowGrandma78 started streaming in 2020 (shocking, given the username) and has dabbled in a number of games including Starcraft , SWTOR, Rift and Terra. But her primary game is WoW , where she mains a Resto Druid in both Alliance and Horde.
The best part is that this is no 'grandma learns to play WoW' gimmick. She's been smashing WoW for a full 17 years, making her a bonafide veteran that has been stomping around Azeroth for longer than many fellow players have even been alive. There's nothing like the heartwarming feeling of seeing seniors enjoying video games, but with experience like that we'd be apprehensive about going toe-to-toe in a bout of PvP.
WowGrandma's stream consists of mainly WoW gameplay with plenty of chilled conversation thrown in as she regales tales of her younger years. And as a widow with six children, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, she has plenty of experience to share.
WowGrandma78's subathon has now entered its 15th day, with her profile at time of writing reading "Day15 80th bday subathon no limit continues. How much longer i don't know….They just added more time." As is the norm with subathons, time is added with each sub. For WowGrandma's subathon, each sub adds another three minutes, whilst 100 Bits add another one minute.
For those worried that she is putting herself through Ludwig levels of stress and exhaustion as her viewership continues to pile on extra minutes, rest assured that she has been taking ample breaks to sleep and carry out life as usual. These breaks are filled with a slideshow of pictures from her life accompanied by comments on what we're seeing. All in all, it's incredibly wholesome.
Needless to say, the WoW subathon is going well, with Wowgrandma78 having accrued over 2,600 subscribers and over $11,000 in donations since the stream began. If you'd like to show your support, be sure to swing by the stream.
