No points for guessing where Under the Grand Sea is going to take place.
What to Expect From the Latest Tower of Fantasy Expansion: Under the Grand Sea
In just three days, Hotta Studio is set to release its latest expansion for Tower of Fantasy entitled Under the Grand Sea. And if that title has forced a certain Disney tune into your head, never fear. Because Tower of Fantasy has a habit of creating its own songs for their expansions, perfect for getting rid of that particular earworm.
It may come as no surprise that Under the Grand Sea is an expansion that largely takes place underwater. Which means underwater combat - a mechanic that's rarely seen in RPGs, and even more rarely perfected - will be rife with the introduction of submarine enemies and bosses galore. And we bet mobile gamers are particularly excited to see what it is going to look like.
More typical expansion content will include the arrival of a brand new map, new simulacra, and new challenges for Wanderers to tackle. While Under the Grand Sea's setting will comprise three main areas: Grand Sea Island, Innards City and the Dragon Breath volcano. All adding yet more unique biomes to the already diverse repertoire of Tower of Fantasy landscapes.
The first three new simulacra include Lan, who wields a fire-bending umbrella, Icarus, who can freeze surrounding water and wields a yo-yo weapon, and Fiona, the dual-blade wielding leader of Innars City.
Should the gacha gods deem fit, these characters can help to stave off some brand new threats, which will include new Behemoth Abyssant, Abuela. This giant world boss can be found in a crater, and will use lava in its attempts to destroy Wanderers. Abyssant Eva, meanwhile, will arrive as part of a new instanced mission, Ring of Oblivion.
Other new challenges will include the Underwater Request Mission, which fully immerses players in the underwater gameplay as they explore the deep to acquire rewards aplenty.
Under the Grand Sea is set to arrive on March 30th, and will be available to play for free along with the base game.
