Four of Ubisoft’s games will be raising funds and planting trees with support from Ecologi over November.
Feelgood Friday: Ubisoft & Ecologi Team Up for Green Game Jam
Everyone's focus is on the environment over the coming weeks as COP27 approaches. And whatever the United Nations decide, a large swathe of the video games industry has been forging ahead with its own climate-conscious efforts thanks to the 2022 Green Game Jam. One of the biggest names is Ubisoft, a founding member of the Playing for the Planet Alliance which is hosting a series of in-game events all this month.
While some of Ubisoft's biggest titles such as Assassin's Creed will be partaking in a little environmentalism over the coming months (my prediction is a Green Man bundle in AC Valhalla), November will see activations appear in Brawlhalla, Hungry Shark World, Rocksmith+, and Trackmania centred around this year's theme of Food, Forests and our Future. Here's what's in store:
Rocksmith+
==========
While we're sure the making of guitars isn't a huge factor in deforestation compared to say mining and the fast-food meat industry, it certainly has an impact. Which is why Rocksmith+ has decided to highlight the truth behind the wood selection for instrument manufacturing through a series of video lessons and cosmetics in an event called "Tonewood". From now until February 2nd, 2023, Ecologi will then plant one tree for every five interactions with the event's contents, with a goal to plant 20,000 in total.
Brawlhalla
==========
Brawlhalla will be promoting sustainability with The World Tree Initiative in support of Ecologi. Players will be able to purchase an emote which will see their character plant a small Ygdrasil tree (A.K.A. "The World Tree"), with proceeds going straight to Ecologi.
The Brawlhalla team will also be hosting a 12-hour charity stream on November 18th to help drive donations to One Tree Planted, while a social media campaign will award a free in-game avatar to players who drive awareness about shrinking forests.
Trackmania
==========
Racing game Trackmania is also focussing on tree-planting in its very own contest which will feature the greenest tracks over the course of November 11th - 13th. The Trackmania Green Weekend will encourage streamers to raise funds to plant trees with the support of Ecologi.
Hungry Shark World
==================
The game that features several species of sharks feasting on all manner of marine life will be honing in on the importance of coral reef conservation in partnership with Glowing Glowing Gone. Players can partake in the new Protect the Baby Shark mode (apologies for the earworm) from November 8th - 30th.
