Dragonflight brings a lot of extremely exciting changes to World of Warcraft.
Breaking: Dragonflight Announced as New WoW Expansion
Well, everyone, the leakers were right. World of Warcraft Dragonflight is the next expansion, and it is set on the Dragon Isles. And as Game Director Ion Hazzikostas so eloquently put it - “Nobody saw it coming.”
The joke, of course, is that we all did. Practically every part of it has been predicted by the community from the name to the location, to the brand new draconic race that we can play as. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Here are the highlights of the Dragonflight expansion reveal stream.
World of Warcraft Dragonflight Highlights Dragonflight was revealed with a customarily flashy cinematic set on the Dragon Isles, which have been all but abandoned by its guardians - the titular Dragonflights - for 10,000 years. But Dragonflight sees the return of these multicolored wonders, thanks to the heroic actions of one Watcher, who was able to guide the Dragonflights back with a beacon. And now, it is up to the Azerothian heroes to help with their ‘reemergence’.
The top takeaways of the Dragonflight reveal included: Cross-faction play as part of Patch 9.2.5. The Dragon Isles which will be composed of five zones - four leveling zones and one new starter zone. A new playable race - the Dracthyr. The Dracthyr are a particularly unique race in that they are tied to a new class: Evoker. This draconic race is highly customisable, whilst the Evoker’s abilities make full use of their unique physical features. For example, Evokers can use their wings and fire breath in the heat of battle. They will also begin their journey on the Dragon Isles’ newest starter zone, providing a unique experience compared to those sailing over to the isles. Evokers can be built as ranged DPS or Healers and wear mail armor. Dragon Riding - it’s flying, but not as you know it. A far more dynamic flight system will see players soaring, diving, weaving and swooping their way across the Dragon Isles. Players can also get their hands on their very own Drake, which can be customized and upgraded as they progress.
Along with these huge new additions come significant overhauls to already existing systems, including a new talent system, more meaningful professions and a customisable UI.
All in all, we are expecting some positive reactions from the community. We may not be surprised about the Dragonflight reveal, but some of the finer details were particularly pleasant surprises. Check out the World of Warcraft Dragonflight trailer for yourself.
