These days, survival MMO fans are pretty spoiled for choice. But if the recent success of V Rising shows us anything, it's that a good gimmick done well can result in incredible popularity, no matter how many similar games are out there. Which is why we're excited about the newest survival title from Clockwork Labs, BitCraft.
BitCraft Key Features
While many titles in the survival genre walk the road of gritty realism, BitCraft instead oozes a whimsical charm with a distinctive art style. Instead of starting out as a naked human, players instead assume the role of a mystical being that awakens in the middle of a mysterious wilderness.
From there, BitCraft focuses heavily on non-antagonistic pursuits such as building skills, societies, and exploring the many ruins that harbor secrets of their own. And if you are looking for a bit of drama, well there's always the politics.
The sandbox world of BitCraft is a procedurally generated canvas upon which players are encouraged to build a new civilization. A single persistent server will undergo permanent changes based on the choices of its inhabitants and how they choose to alter the landscape.
Players are given the freedom to choose their own path. With skills that lend themselves to farming, hunting, city-building or crafting, there are myriad ways in which players can choose to contribute to (or hinder) the societies that will spring up around them.
Should players choose to pool their efforts, there's no limit to the scale of potential societies, with Clockwork Labs even envisaging continent-spanning empires in the future. And if BitCraft can deliver on its promises, we can look forward to one of the most ambitious survival MMOs on the market.
When Can We Play?
Unfortunately, a final release date is a way off yet. But with Clockwork Labs recently securing some extra funding, we can remain hopeful that a bonafide release is on the horizon.
