ChrisDaCow went where no Minecraft creator has gone before - and did a truly stellar job.
Crafty Creations: Godlike Minecraft Creator ChrisDaCow Recreates the Universe
We may have featured many out-of-this-world creations in our Crafty Creations segment. But we'll struggle to find any quite as cosmic as that of Minecraft creator, ChrisDaCow, who took the concept of being a 'Minecraft god' as literally as possible and created the universe itself. And it's almost as impressive as the real deal.
They say that God works in mysterious ways. Thankfully that isn't so in Minecraft. Because ChrisDaCow gave us a step-by-step rundown of exactly how one can create the universe using nothing but dedication, skydiving with a tenuous excuse, and Minecraft's famously exhaustive toolbox.
But when it comes to creating the cosmos, not all tools are created equal. ChrisDaCow quickly discovered that the ability to paint blocks with light was possibly the most integral feature to help make it look like the real deal (supermassive balls of burning gas are quite bright, after all). Well, that and maths. A lot of very complex maths.
ChrisDaCow began with our very own third rock from the sun, and worked from there, building the rest of the planets we know and love. From there, things could only get bigger and better, and ChrisDaCow got to work recreating stunning renditions of the Pillars of Creation, a black hole, galaxies, and the weblike universe itself.
All in all, the Minecraft universe took over a month of literal world-building. Which does fall short of God's world record of seven days, but ChrisDaCow is only human, after all. We think. Either way, the collection of heavenly bodies within Minecraft is truly a sight to behold and testament to ChrisDaCow's talent...as well as the sheer, ridiculous creative freedom that Minecraft offers.
And it's safe to say that the Creator (capital 'C') has struck a chord with the Minecraft creator community, who seem to be on an infinite trajectory of outdoing one another. A sentiment that was summed up by one Reddit comment in particular: "at this point I'm waiting to see someone build sentient life in minecraft." Well, when they do, you can be sure we'll feature them in our Crafty Creations segment.
